grandaddy
this post really needs no explanation, does it? they're freaking GRANDADDY.
they were awesome. they were loved and had a ton of fans, but apparently only broke fans who did not have enough dough to buy their cds and t-shirts and stickers and tanks of gas. because as hard as they busted their asses for 14 years - hard to believe, isn't it? - to bring everyone some good music, at the end of the day, they didn't have much to show for it. you can only take that kinda crap for so long, you know? so they're taking their ball and going home. just like the beta band. and i don't blame them, either, but i will miss them terribly.

bloggers killed GRANDADDY.
whatever, man.
our whole career, up until the last EP we released, there weren't even enough mp3 bloggers around to kill us. it's pretty well-documented that there were actually only four bloggers around when we released our last full-length record, "sumday". let's not make a scapegoat out of the bloggers, mmmkay?
so I guess is really WAS the coke and meth.
Man, it's a damn shame. A damn shame!
i have to admit, i downloaded most of my grandaddy library, but it was only because most of the grandaddy stuff i like was b-side rare stuff that never made it on to the full-length albums - which I did actually buy. as for the band breaking up, i think its a good thing. all in all, lytle was responsible for 80% (arguable) of the sound anyway, and it seems very unlikely the guy will give up his recording gadgets for an x-box. if you do a grandaddy search on Youtube you can find a wealth of people using the music to make their own videos. not many bands inspire that kind of artistic following. G'daddy will live on. The sound will grow. I think the best is yet to come.
Grandaddy was too shy to headline a tour. They always played as openers or as part of a 3 or 4 band lineup. No wonder they didn't make enough money. If I'd been their manager they'd be flush and rockin right about now.
Was in the band for abit. Trying to track down jL right now... no doubt there will be more music, and it will astound us all!!!
